Abstract
Background:
@EN Because of the increased intensity of pain and decreased effect of the analgesics on the patients of diabetic painful peripheral neuopathy with pulmonary tuberculosis under anti-tuberculosis medication, we wanted to seek the predisposing
factors.
@ES Methods:
@EN BMI, HbAlc, Triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, C-peptide, FBS, PP2 were measured in 39 patients with diabetic painful peripheral neuropathy accompanied by pulmonary tuberculosis under anti-tuberculosis medication, and 59 controls without
pulmonary
tuberculosis. The intensity of pain and complications, degree of use analgesics and results of electromyography were also checked.
@ES Results:
@EN 1) There were no statistical significance between the pulmonary tuberculosis group and control group in the comparison of FBS (186.5¡¾56.07§·% versus 276.8¡¾88.4§·%) and PP2 (197.2¡¾70.05§·% versus 277.8¡¾90.05§·%). In HbA1c, C-peptide,
HDL-cholesterol, there was no statistical sign ificance.
2) BMI was 20.0¡¾2.9§¸/§³ in pulmonary tuberculosis group and 22.5¡¾3.7§¸/§³in control group, which were statistically significant(p<0.005).
3) There was statistical significance in comparison with the intensity of pain between two groups as it was 1.41¡¾0.55 in pumonary tuberculosis group and 10.4¡¾0.83 in control group(p<0.05). Also in the step of alangesics used according to
algorithm,
there was statistial significance between pulmonary tuberculosis group and control group, 2.4¡¾1.31 and 1.8¡¾0.7 respectively(p<0.05).
4) there was statistical significance in the degree of complications as it was 1.7¡¾¡¾0.74 in pulmonary tuberculosis group 2.16¡¾1.12 in control group (p<0.05).
5) The amplitude and NCV of sensory and motor nerve in both groups were lower than normal healthy person. But in both groups there was no statistically significant diffenrece.
@ES Conclusion :
@EN there was significance in comparison with intensity of pain between pulmonary tuberculsosi group and control group. And BMI was lower significantly in pulmonary tuberculosis group These results suggest that the deficiency of nutrition becomes
the
one of the predisposing factors causing deterioration of neuropathy. Therefore it is recommended to follow up the change of pain pattern after improvement of nutritional state.
